Barbara's Story
Life
October 20, 2006: A brief summary of my life before my move to Georgia. I returned to California after high school and worked for several years in a variety of dead end jobs. I moved back to Florida in 1979. Nine years after high school, I returned to school full time and earned my Masters and Bachelors simultaneously at Florida State University at the age of thirty-three. My degrees are in Special Education. I worked in the public school system for a few years and then went to work in education the Florida prison system.

ing for the Florida prison system. I left in September of 2005, before all the stuff hit the fan, but we all saw it coming long before it hit the national headlines.
I've relocated to southern Atlanta. For a year I worked part-time in the public school system. Just three weeks ago, I went back to work full time in rural Georgia for the Child Care Resource and Referral Agency through the local technical college. It is a job I have prayed for a long, long time; one where my efforts are appreciated and my talents developed. It is so contrary to the work I did in the prison system, and it is so nice to be able to finally move past it all.
