Barbara's Story
After graduation, I worked as a secretary for 10 years at an engineering firm in K.C. Thanks to my drafting classes as Southeast High, I got the opportunity to do some board drafting for them and I decided to change my occupation to a Piping Designer (drafting construction drawings for piping systems in Petroleum and Chemical Facilities). This is where I met my husband Mike. He was also a Piping Designer. Mike and I worked in a number of states across the country as Contract Designers. Then Autocad came along in the late '80's and we both switched over from drafting drawings by hand to drafting drawings on the computer. The last 10 years of our careers were in Bakersfield, CA.
We came back to the KC area in 2009 and settled in Lees Summit at Raintree Lake. My...Expand for more
older brother Aubrey (Andy) Anderson (Southeast High '60) lives in Butler with his wife Jan, several dogs, and several horses. My younger brother Richard Anderson (Ruskin High '72) lives at Lake Winnebago with his wife Cheryl.
We have a son, Mike, three grandchildren, Danielle, Dylan, and Tyler and a great grandson, Maurice.
We are enjoying our retirement and love to take Dylan and Tyler on excursions. We have walking trails all around our area and around the lake, which we take full advantage of for exercising. I have taken up quilting and appliquéing.
I enjoyed 8th grade through Senior at Southeast and had many favorite teachers, but I liked Mr. Bradford (Algebra) the best. Southeast was a great school and I am thankful I had the opportunity to attend.
