Barbara's Story
It's hard to sum up one's life in such a small space, but here goes. Afer graduation I went to work in St. Louis for MIC/GMAC (General Motors). Was transferred to Minneapolis, MN for a year and requested a transfer back to St. Louis after one horriffic, snow-filled winter. Back in St. Louis, I lived in apartments with Paulette Trent-Becker (McClure "64) until we both married. Upon returning to St. Louis, Lynn Nickel-Steigler introduced me to Mike Moran (McCluer "65) and we were married 2 weeks after Mike returned from VietNam and I was again transferred this time to Washington, DC where Mike had still one more year owed to the USArmy. We returned to Missouri and Mike returned to his studies at MU-Rolla and I took a job with State Farm.
After Mike graduated we moved back to St. Louis and then Mike got the job he really wanted in Chicago. He was happy with his new job, but I was not happy with my life at the time. Long story short, we divorced ammicably at the 5...Expand for more
year marked and went our separate ways. I ended up with a new job, a new home and a new husband in 1975. Together my husband and I founded and ran an advertising company for the next 20+ years ending in Heber Springs, Arkansas (of all places). We had two wonderful sons and I ended up with a wonderful daughter from my husband's first marriage. However, no daughter or son-in laws yet as the three are very career oriented. Sadly after 23 years, I lost my husband to colon cancer. After his death I moved once again to Little Rock, Arkansas and working for attorney Phillip Duncan, Duncan Law firm where I am a paralegal and the administrative assistant to Mr. Duncan.
I doubt if I'll ever fully retire, but am looing forward to semi retirement at 66. That will give me more time to get out to California and visit Lynn Nickel-Steigler and her husband, Dan. Lynn became my sister when her Mom, Ruth married my Dad, Robert. Small world. Looking forward to our 50th reunion!
