Barbara's Story

Life I'm starting over again for the first time. You will see a summary of life events from high school until now. But as facebook says, What's on my mind? I'm restarting that art career that I've played at a few times prior in my life. I'll keep you posted as time progresses. Meanwhile, the summary: I began to grow up after a couple years at "FJC", many dance concerts and a 2 year failed marriage. I began a career in programming. Spent 7 years in that job moving from file clerk to computer programmer and partied most of the way...yeah that surprised me too. Moving from there I tripled my salary in 3 years progressing from one programming job to another. My final few years as a programmer/analyst took me all over the US and Europe setting up computer systems for distribution centers. I even got to fly on the Concord to Paris. As that career came to a screeching halt in the early 90's I began studying graphic arts. I had never given up on art in general having done a few hippie dippie art shows and such. In 92 my wake up call came when my mother was diagnosed with cancer. This challenge rekindled my faith in God. I seem to do everything to extreme. So I went back to school and got a degree in theology. Continued playing at jobs i...Expand for more
n graphics and doing contract computer work on the side. I met my husband in bible school. One month after we were married I was diagnosed with cancer. Obviously I'm a survivor... overcomer is more like it. I worked temp jobs while my husband worked for Raytheon (oddly enough, that's where my dad worked until he retired). And since I first wrote this outline, my husband went to heaven as a result of a 5 year battle against cancer which spread from colon to lung to brain. So as you will see by my profile photo I have chose dogs as my companions for this season in life. And I am blessed to have 2 amazing standard poodles who keep me busy and laughing. We enjoy a peaceful life in Anaheim. I have lost count of my God children...never having had my own...God just brings them to me one by one. For instance My God daughter in England came here for a religious convention 13 years ago. My #1 God son walked into a prayer meeting I was conducting some nearly 15 years ago. Had lots of trials through the years, followed always by triumphs. An eternal optimist. I attend church at Healing Word International. Kind of a wild church pastored by a wonderful South African man and his wife. Life is good, despite it all - maybe even because of it all.
