Barbara's Story
Hi, all my dear friends and classmates! It is hard to believe that 50 years have passed since we were together on a daily basis. I will never forget Norwalk and of course Norwalk High. I'm sure you feel the same way. It was a very special time in my life, as in yours. First crushes and dates, lots of homework, football games, laughter, tears, proms, all sorts of events flash by as I remember. For me, also, it was unusual, as like Lisa Malmquist, my father actually worked in one end of Norwalk High. Being the daughter of the Superintendent of Schools had its unusual place. Lots of people knew me and I didn't always know them. Teachers were, I felt, often very tough on me. Maybe I just imagined that! It was comforting knowing that my dad was in the building and I did feel pride when I would see him in the building. He was tall and handsome and quite an awesome figure, as many of you probably remember. And sometimes I even got a ride to school with him! That was an extra perk.
I would love to hear from you. I in still in practice as a psychologist, part-time. My husband is working full-time also as a psychologist. And I have been busy with my book writing. My latest books are the beginni...Expand for more
ngs of a self-esteem series for girls, tweens and teens in the form of a fictional diary kept by a girl, each year of her life. The first book is The Truth (I'm a girl, I'm smart and I know everything) and the second book is Secrets: You tell me yours and I'll tell you mine...maybe! Both are up on Amazon if you want to take a look at them. I'm very proud that The Truth...has been published in China and Vietnam. I'm on Facebook at Barbara Becker Holstein. Come and find me!
We have grandchildren and of course adore spending time with them! My mom is not doing well and I go back and forth to Massachusetts a lot. Thankfully, I was able to help her publish her book, Feel Good Stories before she had major medical problems. It is a wonderful book that has her short stories from the day she was born until her retirement years, living at Reed's Landing in Springfield, Massachusetts.
I've been in touch with some of you. Several of us have met in New York City many times. These times have meant so much to me. I've literally danced down the street when I knew I was meeting them. I'm up for meeting many of you also in New York City. Let me know if you can get together. Don't forget to write to me!
