After graduation, I started working for the Navy Department in Washington D.C. as a Legal Secretary. I married a police officer a few years later, and in 1976, we moved to Phoenix, Arizona. I got another job as a civilian Legal Secretary there at Williams Air Force Base. I was not in the military. After a few years living in Phoenix, my husband and I parted ways. I worked my way up to becoming the Air Force Base Court Reporter. This job was especially exhilarating and very interesting. It involved long hours and sometimes many late nights. I sat in on Court Martials, Flying Evaluation Board meetings, criminal hearings, and any proceeding that needed a complete and accurate transcript. I was even sent to Court Martialsl held at other bases in Los Angeles, California, and Las Vegas, Nevada.
