Barbara's Story
Never expected to become an outdoorsy type, but life takes some unusual twists and turns. I enjoy hiking and almost all things active. I feel blessed to have a good life - good health, wonderful friends and plenty of opportunity to travel.
Mostly I remember SHHS as an awkward time. I found college much more to my liking. I did my undergrad degree at the University of Redlands, then got my Masters at Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tennessee. It was a great experience to live in another part of the country, listening to "y'all" and "honey" a lot, but I was glad to be back in Southern California. So much for humidity, amazing lightening storms and the biggest bugs I'd ever experienced.
I worked as a speech therapist and special education teacher for years, but, having spent WAY too much doing paperwork and sitting in meetings, I decided to take a year off and pick up a math credential. I spent the last ten ye...Expand for more
ars of my teaching career teaching high school math - which was great fun. I was married for 25 years, but have been single since 2001.
I retired a couple of years ago and LOVE IT! I hike, I walk at the beach, I ski, I hang out with friends and I TRAVEL! I've been an adventurous type and traveler for years, but retirement has allowed me to kick it into high gear. I've been to every continent except Antarctica, but that is, of course, on my bucket list. I am headed to Turkey and Japan this year. Travel opportunities seem to find me.
Hope the people I do remember have had good lives. If I don't remember you, don't take offense. I've done a lot of mental purging of my years in high school. I would still love to hear from you. Maybe you can rekindle those long lost synapses.
In answer to your question, I put away my baton YEARS ago, although I can still juggle!
