Barbara's Story
After high school, I attended and graduated from SJSU with a BA degree and
a teaching credential. I taught school in San Jose for 30 years. I
married my husband Rich (also class of '64). He owned and operated a
precision manufacturing company in the valley until 2007. That year we
sold the business and our home in Almaden.
In 1990 we had bought a vacation home on the Rogue River in Grants
Pass, Oregon, where we were able to spend our summers rafting and
fishing just outside our door. In 1998 we bought our current hilltop
home with acreage and views of the Rogue River Valley, where we are now
enjoying retirement.

had wonderful travel opportunities to Asia and the South Pacific,
Europe and Mexico. We recently took up traveling around the US in our RV
with our Jack Russell, Zoey.
I enjoy aerobics, yoga, swimming, reading, cooking and gardening. Rich
enjoys his yearly fishing trips to Alaska, his hot rod cars, gardening,
traveling with his wife and dog, and his amateur radio hobby.
We have been happily married these last 47 years. Although we never had
children, we had two boys from Mexico live with us for a number of years
while going to school. We have been fortunate with good health and
wonderful friends. Life has been good to us.
