Barbara's Story
Life
I am now living in the Atlanta metro area with my husband. I am teaching at the present time but I intend to return to practicing law as I recently passed the Georgia bar exam. I have no children but my sister, Liz (Manalapan HS Class of 1985) also lives in the metro area and I have a beautiful niece and handsome nephew to spoil. I have two dogs...one is a dachsund and the other is an American Eskimo. My husband Mike is originally from NYC and shares my accent. He works for the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta. We are planning to retire to Denver at some point in the future.
I enjoyed my years at Manalapan HS and cannot believe that 30 years have elapsed! After Manalapan, I enjoyed 4 terrific years at Trenton State College and then went to work for the prosecutor's office. I went to law school at Seton Hall University in Newark. I am happy with what I have accomplished and with my life but there are still many adventures to come!
College
I loved my time at Trenton State College but, as with many, could not wait ...Expand for more
to graduate, solve the world's problems and just "get on with it". Now, I wonder why I was in such a big hurry! I majored in criminal justice and back in those days, I was one of two females in the CJ classes freshman year. I was hired as the first female security officer at Great Adventure the summer after my sophomore year. I worked the 4pm to midnight (and beyond) shift for the next 4 years and it provided me with no end of excitement and a lifetime of stories and memories. :) The commraderie was terrific and the parties never seemed to end.
After college, I was offered a job with the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office as one of the original 4 trial team paralegals. I worked in the newly-created juvenile unit and loved it. I loved it so much that I began to think about going to law school. That's where the trouble started! :) I actually enjoyed law school and after graduation I clerked for a superior court judge in Hunterdon County. After that, I went to the Division of Criminal Justice in the Attorney General's Office.
