Barbara's Story
After graduating from SCC in 82 I got a job as a manager in a word processing center at the law firm of Potter Anderson & Corroon in Wilmington.
I met Jim Conto from Monroeville (class of 78) soon after I started my job and we were married Sept. 22, 1984. Jim already had a son, Jim Jr., from his first marriage. Our first son, Brian was born on Oct. 4, 1986. Brian was born was some birth defects but nothing stops him. He went on to wrestle on the varsity team at WHS (Class of 2005) on one leg, had 13 pins out of his 16 wins his senior year. Brian attended GCC for 2 1/2 years for law enforcement, and is now working at PSE&E as a nuclear equipment operator. He got engaged Christmas 2007 and will probably be married May 2009. ogram and graduated from there in 2007. She now attends GCC for early elementary education. She works at the SACC program at the Mary Shoemaker School. As for myself, after having Brian I left Wilmington and have worked at J&B/Engel in Woodstown for the past 19 years managing the office. We do engineering and land surveying. I have spent the past 2 years taking care of Jim who suffered from lung cancer. He passed away quietly on Nov. 24, 2007 at home. We had been married for 23 years 2 months. I have my faith, my friends and family to get me through this time of my life. I'll just keep on keepin on as Jim would want me to.
On a happier note, iI became a grandmother on August 10, 2008 to a beautiful little girl named Peyton
lillea. I witnessed her birth and it was the most amazing thing i have ever seen. I guess God was making up for what we lost.
