Barbara's Story
Life
It's now Fall of 2006, I think I was last on here about 2 yrs. ago!! How time flies! So...the update...I'm still living in Virginia. I'm now Pediatric Coordinator at my job and I work in the admin. part of the office on Fridays now...alot of great new responsibilites. I'm quite the traveler...mostly New York to see family, but I love it everytime. I'm elated that it's a buyers market as far as housing goes, within the next year I'll be taking that great leap! Kanoa is now in the 1st grade, he's in Catholic School and doing very well. He tells me his favorite part is the math tests! That makes me happy because I hated math until I started college! Recently someone reminded me we had 2 yrs till our 10 yr reunion!! My gosh, how the time has flown, and how much I've changed...and grown up!! I still miss Hawaii very much, but I'm so happy with where I'm at in life ...Expand for more

Workplace
Off to newer and better things in the last year, now back on the east coast, found a new career that I love! I am a Pediatric Dental Assistant. I work anywhere from 4-4 1/2 days a week, off on weekends, which is perfect so I no longer have to sacrifice time away from Kanoa. We joke sometimes that our work environment comes with free parenting lessons. But the more rewarding moments come from the work I do with special needs children, it takes a lot of time and patience to earn the trust of some, and for their families and us it is such an exciting visit when that happens. It's definetly a grounding moment knowing you're making a difference in someones life, because sadly many offices won't see SP kids, but we love working with them and the Dr.'s I work with are great!
