Barbara Melanson 's Story

After graduating from CPHS, went to St. John's University in Jamaica. Taught French & Spanish for 2 years at Northport Junior High, then taught in the Department of Defense Overseas Dependent Schools for 3 years --- meeting my first husband, a Navy pilot in Iceland and later in the Philippines -- with an assignment to Tripoli, Libya in between. Don passed away in 2001 after 33 years of marriage and 3 great kids and 4 grandsons. We moved quite a few times due to the Navy and after his retirement, we lived on St. Croix, US Virgin Islands for 12 years. In Nov. 2006, I was married to Leo, a ...Expand for more
widowed college professor of German and Linguistics. We reside in Memphis, TN and occasionally head over to my beach house on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. In 2009, we went to our 50th high school reunions -- Leo's at Seton Hall Prep in New Jersey and mine at Carle Place High on Long Island. In June 2010, we moved my almost 93 year old mother from Florida to Memphis. She passed away at age 97. Future plans include a return trip to Italy so we can use the Italian we both finished studying at the University of Memphis! That was fun -- being students with a bunch of twenty-somethings!

48 years ago today, I married the first love of my life, Don Huber. We had 33 happy and wonderful years together before God wanted him to be in heaven. I miss him every day.
