Barbara's Story
Since graduating EKHS I moved around a lot. In 1981 I moved to Boston and attended the Museum School of Fine Arts and Tufts University. I loved it there and remained in the area till 1986.
I moved to Orange County, CA briefly from 86-87. Hated it there, lots of phonies, airheads, greed and arrogant materialism.
Moved back to GR in 1987 and remained there till 1989. I worked for Steelcase during that time and met my first husband. We married in 1989 and moved to London, England for a year while he worked there. It was a truely educational experience living there.
We returned from London in 1990 and moved to the St. Louis metro area (on the Illinois side). I had my son in 1992 and in 1994 began graduate studies at SIUE in art therapy.
The graduate program was very good but the marriage was not. I eventually got divorced in 1996 after a long separation. I worked as an art therapist, counselor, and teaching asst. for v...Expand for more
arious agencies and a school, but it was very high burnout.
In 2002 I went back to school and got my degree in art education. In 2003 I remarried, but again the degree was much stronger than the marriage. Hey this is therapeutic, I'm begining to see a pattern! I was just divorced again last August, 2007, but was separated for 2 years prior to that. Very short union.
During the tumultuous separation, I got back into my artwork and began making hand embellished photo collages. There was such an overwhelming response from friends that I decided to try exhibiting my work and have had good success doing that. Making a living from it though is another story, So I am working part time at a large arts organization in the city for the time being.
At this point in life I have a great 15 yr. old son, a decent house, a wonderful boyfriend, a couple of pets and hopefully someday some acreage.
That's my story and I'm stickin to it.
