Barbara's Story

It is so much fun to look back on our high school album and to be in touch with some of our classmates through Facebook and other means. Life at CP was special and those friendships and memories remain dear to my heart. I graduated from WSU in 1970 with a double major in education and speech pathology. Upon graduation, I came to the beautiful central coast of California and have been here ever since. I have been married to Mark for 44 years! He recently retired as VP of Community Affairs at Pebble Beach Company but continues to serve on several community foundation boards. I worked for the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District for several years before starting a family. I got my administrative credentials from SJSU and my Masters from USF. I helped develop several programs for MPUSD, doing most of my work out of the classroom. Once we began our family, I took a break to raise our children and home schooled our three girls through high school. In the later years of our homeschooling, I co-founded a homeschool charter school and served as administrator and part of the teaching staff. I have...Expand for more
retired from my work in education twice! Family has always been my priority and I appreciate being home with our kids. We lost our first child, Michael, to complications from chemotherapy at the age of 25 months. He left a powerful impact on our family and faith. We have three beautiful and amazing daughters. Our youngest, Amy, did her undergrad work at UCSB and went on to get her PHD in Psych at Biola University. She currently is on staff at CSUMB and we love having her close to home. Sarah, our middle daughter, graduated from Abilene Christian U with a degree in Interior Design, lives in Coppell, Texas and has given us our two sweet grandsons. Our oldest, Elizabeth, graduated from Pepperdine with a degree in telecommunications and creative writing. She lives in the Burbank area, is a writer and nanny. I am enjoying time with my sweetheart, our girls and grandbabies. I am so grateful for the friendships and memories from our high school days. I have heard from a few of you and send you all my very best. Know that you all are special to me. Where has the time gone!? Hugs, blessings, and love, Barb

And here is Major Richard A. Smith. A strong, courageous, tender hearted man. A gentle, loving man much like our own Mark John.
Look at the beautiful scratch board on my coffee table...done by Carolyn Burt! It just arrived and has found its new home. ..I love it!
