Barbara's Story
Sense graduation, 1971, my life has been a bit Topsy turvey at times. Married Dale Harris, Feb.71, which ended badly. Don't need to go into detail. Moved to Balboa Island and pretty much partied for a few years. Worked for an advertising agency that promoted Granny Goose potato chips, was on the Jerry Lewis telethon, but no one would have recognized me as I was a 7 foot goose! Lot's of fun! Traveled all over California, Nevada, and Arizona for the company.I also got brave enough to do a minute and a half comedy skit at the Laugh Stop during amateur hour which I came in second. Really enjoyed that but threw up right after I left the stage, so thought maybe that wouldn't be my career choice! After that my cousin and I built two truck washing companies, one in Vernon and another in Barstow, where I met and married my second husband,Pete. We married in Jan.77, We had one son, Pete William, in 81, who is now a fire fighter/paramedic for Ontario Fire. Pete and I were married 30 years until his death from pancreatic cancer in Jan 2007. During the marriage, I was a supervisor for operation at GTE until I had my son, and decided no one could care for him better then me so I opened my own day ca...Expand for more
re business which I ran for 14 years. Son was involved in Ice Hockey and Football and I ended up working for 2 NHL, Stanly Cup winners, at their Ice rinks in Riverside and Ontario as the GM for 10 + years.Son and I traveled all over the America, Canada, Italy, and France playing goodwill hockey games for Team USA Inc. I was appointed the Southern California Coordinator for Team USA and sent many young players to Europe and Canada to represent USA. During all this, I also did a movie with Elizabeth Taylor and Mark Harmon (Long Hot Summer) which was a real hoot!!! After Pete passed I went through the whole tearing my home apart and re-doing it, lived at Lowe's,learn a lot about power tools! But one day decided to stop by Target to do some shopping, saw the employment sign, filled out an app before shopping and they hired me on the spot! Been there a year and a few months and love it! Great place to work, lots of fun!!! I'm in a long distance (soon to be not so long distance)relationship with Harry Reiss, who also went to Magnolia. So things are looking up! Life is good and I always say...Have a Happy Heart...sour people suck!!! So there's part of my story folks....have a Wonderful Day!!!
