Barbara's Story
Life
I have lived in Columbus, Ohio since I graduated from High School in 1973. I first went to Columbus to attend Ohio State University. After graduating from OSU, I worked for the state for a year before I landed a teaching position with the Columbus Catholic School System. I taught English and directed the drama program. After four years in the Catholic School system, I went to work for the Columbus Public School system teaching English. Along with teaching English, I stage managed professionally for three dance companies and several local theatre companies. My most rewarding stage management job was with Zivili an ethic dance company based in town. I had an opportunity to travel all over the country with them, including several concerts in New York and Florida.

ing experience, one I will keep with me forever. After 7 years at the perfoming arts school, I decided to concentrate more on helping those schools with less opportunities to do theatre and start new programs for them. I am currently teaching drama at Walnut Ridge High School in Columbus, where I have built a new drama program that is finally taking off and doing full productions on a limited budget. It's hard work, but I feel like I am making an impression on students who have less.
I just bought a new house in Pataskala, Ohio. I spend most of my free time there with my dog, Alfie, and two cats Gilbert and Sully. I've slowed down a bit and am looking forward to retirement in 4 years. I have never married, but not ruling it out. Upon retirement I hope to travel more, and to be a consultant for schools starting new theatre programs or to help schools do technical work, such as set building and lighting. I will never fully be away from the theatre.
