I was married in 1970 and moved to Buffalo,NY and then to FL in 1976 with my husband and sons age 2 & 5.
1978 was the start of a long career as a "professional student ". Certified in elementary education, exceptional student education and guidance and counseling. I taught severely emotionally disturbed (SED)high school students (Teacher of the Year 1992) until 1993 when I became a high school counselor and liaison for exceptional student education.In 1998, I became Guidance Counselor/ Director at a large high school with 2,700 students and retired from there in 2012 after 34 years in the school system.

I started my running career in 1994. Surviving cancer in 1997-98, I went on to do a triathlon 1999 and ran a marathon in 2002. I have served on the Board of the Manasota Track Club, selected as Outstanding Female Runner 1997, President of my Kiwanis club( 1st female), Outstanding Kiwanian,KIwanis National Convention Committee, Key Club Advisor, President of Council of Exceptional Children (CEC)Chapter 294, State Membership Chair CEC, CEC Teacher of the Year 1991, State Convention Chair CEC, Rotary Futures Scholarship Center Board (founding member)and counselor for the graphic and performing arts students.
In retirement I volunteer at a cat shelter weekly and co-facilitate a support group for heart patients. My running career is over but I continue to bike, swim and be a "gym rat". I enjoy beach walks, theater and the arts with friends regularly.
1994 and 2002 I lived in London for the summer as part of a cultural exchange program volunteering with the poor. It was a wonderful opportunity to be immersed in the European cultures and make a difference.
I travel to CT 1-2 times a year to visit family and friends. See you in October.
