Ara's Story

Life I did Llve in Brookfield Vermont and worked at Norwich University as the Director of Residence Life. I loved my job as I was paid to socialize with and help develop college students.I also had the opportunity to do many fun activities such as plan large scale social events, work on the building committee, and supervise an excellent team. In June of 06 I was able to take an early retirement and the past year has been an excellent journey. Today I reside in Mountain Home, AR. When I was 33 I finally went to college and became a teacher. That was a great experience and the one event that forever changed the direction of my life. I taught in a Junior College in Wisconsin for 13 years. Then, in 1993 I decided to go back to college and earn a Masters in Clinical Guidence and Counseling. That was another marvelous time in my life; one in which I was able to use skills I already had and be completely free. It was there that I took a few art classes and found out I had a talent for drawing. However, I stuck to my original plan and moved into higher education and administration. As for accomplishments: perhaps my most amibitous was bicycling across America for the American Lung Association, then 11 years in Community Theater learning every aspect of the performance arts and...Expand for more
of course raising a family that has experienced their individual success. However, my true love is art. My subject is the human face and the medium is mostly oils therefore I am content to be retired so that I am able to devote more time to creating art. I am also ready to start a new adventure as it is my hope to spend more time in my second home, which is England, as I have family that live there and already spend much vacation time in East Angela. Not married for past 27 years but I have 4 children and 11 grandchildren (one set of twins) who fill my life in wonderful ways. School The teacher who inspired me the most was Mr. Trapasso. He traught me a love of science and the necessity of being kind. I try to be like him and imulate his kindness and his ability to teach. As for would I do it all over again ... very kindly, no thanks, once was enough. Each stage of life is so interesting that I perfer to be in the moment. Funniest, happiest, craziest ... I think the past is better left to the past. oOf course, ocassionally, I drop some tid bit to intice some student that once, in a place far, far, away I was, young and foolish. My hope is that it reassures them of the wonders of life and that they will also have a journey with much to share in some distant time.
