Barbara's Story
Hi all! Here is my story!
After graduating from HML '76, I attended MDCC and graduated Fall '77 with an AA degree. Went on to FSU where I graduated in '80 with BS in Special Education.
I came back home to Miami and began teaching in the Dade County School System.
I got married in '84 to a wonderful man I met in church (Hialeah High grad!) and also began my Master's Degree in Education at Nova Southeastern.
I had one son in 1986, graduated from Nova with my Master's Degree in 1987 and had another son in 1989. All this time I continued teaching in Dade Co.
In 1999, I took a 1 year leave of absence from teaching and then went back to teaching in 2000-2003 at our small christian school, teaching middle school history..
All this time my husband was working for Rinker Materials. in 20...Expand for more
03 he was asked to move to Ft. Myers to be the surveyor for the quarry there. We packed up and moved to Cape Coral.
I taught in the Lee Co. school district from 2004-2005 and then quit due to health problems at the time.
After 5 months of not working, I got a small temporary job at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU).Within 5 months I was also teaching classes as an adjunct professor.
I now work full time as the Program Assistant in the Adaptive Services office at FGCU and continue teaching several classes each semester as an instructor.
My husband and I just celebrated our 25th anniversary with 1 month trip to Spain.....we are now planning our 30th anniversary trip to the South Pacific.
God has blessed me and my family immensely. Hope you have been as richly blessed also!
