Barbara's Story
I AM A MOTHER OF ONE SON JOSEPH LEE DEMAREST AND HE IS MARRIED AND HAS THREE KIDS. I OWN A GIFT SHOP THAT I AM TRYING TO GET UP AND RUNNING AGAIN. I HAD A SLIGHT STROKE NEW YEARS EVE OF THIS YEAR AND I CLOSED IT FOR AWHIE. I STILL DO GENEALOGY AS A PAST TIME BUT DO NETWORKING A LOT. I WENT BACK TO SCHOOL AND GOT AN ACCOUNTING DEGREE AND LOVE WORKING WITH PEOPLE. I LIVE AT FAIRVIEW ESTATES NORTH RIGHT AT THE KK'S CORNER STORE. AFTER HURRICANE RITA TORE UP MY PARENTS HOME I MOVED AND HAVE BEEN LIVING HERE SINCE. I HAVE LOST BOTH PARENTS TO STROKES AND I LIVE ALONE. SINCE THE LAST REUNION I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT I AM 1/4 APACHE NATIVE INDIAN AND I HAVE BEEN STUDYING THE NATIVE WAYS. I AM ALSO A CAJUN HEALER AND ENJOY HELPING PEOPLE. I HAVE BEEN MARRIED TWICE BUT FIND I LIKE LIVING ON MY OWN. NO BOSSES BUT ME. LOL NO JUST HAVE NOT FOUND WHO I AM LOOKING FOR. I GUESS I AM TO INDEPENDENT SINCE I HAD TO TAKE CARE OF BOTH OF MY PARENTS. I AM IN THE MIDDLE OF WRITING A BOOK OR TWO. I DO SILKS FOR WEDDINGS AND PARTIES AND I OWN A DJ AND KARAOKE SERVICE IN MY GIFT SHOP. (E.J.'S GIFT SHOP, LLC IN LAKE CHARLES). MY SON JOSPEH LEE IS THE DJ. LOOK AT THE EVENTS FOR WE ARE GIVING A PARTY FOR THE CLASS OF 74 AND LOOK AT THE DETAILS. I AM ME AND A WHOLE LOT DIFFERENT FROM WHAT I WAS IN SCHOOL. If I won $100 million, I'd give 1/2 of it to stroke and heart, then spend the rest on rebuilding my church, building my home of my dreams and education for grandkids.
My current age is about to be 53 next month. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be old but they aren't. I was so completely sheltered.

Well My diploma for accounting, Boy6 Scouts of America Leader of the Year, and My Parents trophies since they have both deceased.
In 10 years, I hope to be just like i am now. Also with my grandkids and a husband. I'm going to get there by acheiving my goals.
My oldest friend is a hard one to say. I have so many of them. I do not put one higher than the other. But there is on named Patricia. She uncles married my great aunts. Whe grew up together in the same neighborhood. I was her sisters age but we were better friends and till this day we still live in the same neighborhood. Even marriage that took us far away brought us together again. It is a bond that is filled with many experiences and at the worst of times we comfort each other and that is as it should be.
My first job was at Jimmy's Restraunt, where I got paid $2.50 an hour plus tips to wait on tables. What I remember most about it is I got plenty of tips and I met some nice people..
The day I was adopted and brought to Lake Charles. I was so say before because of abuse but when my parents drove me home the smile on my face could tell the whole story of love and compassion for each other.
