Barbara's Story
Life
I married Blake Bumgardner and we had two daughters, Kimberly and Kelly. We divorced after 9 years of marriage. I married Marlin Hendry and couple of years later and have been married to him for 30 years. I would say that my life thus far has been happy with the exception of the divorce, but we have remained friends and attend family functions with our spouses. One low part in my life, was when I was diagnosed with MS in my early 30's, but I have not had an episode since then. I praise God for my health, family and my job daily.
College

imes, until I had emergency surgery for my gall bladder and had to quit work, so we moved back to Houston. Blake continued his schooling and graduated from Abilene Christian College. (There was an ACC annex in the old Law School Building downtown, where the U of H Downtown campus is now.) My how time has changed things.
Workplace
I started working as a secretary, when I graduated. I continued as a secretary and worked for various companies such as, Jefferson Chemical Company, Zapata Pipeline, El Paso Natural Gas, American Natural Gas and finally ended as an Executive Assistant to the owner Maralo, LLC (an oil and gas company). I have been working at Maralo, LLC since April 1, 1980 (27 yrs). Hopefully, I will retire from here in about 4 yrs.
