In 1969 within a week after graduation I left DuBois for just about anywhere. First stop was a school in Connecticut for airline personnel. What an experience that was! I came home for a visit and when we were returning to school there were riots going on in Hartford. What a surprise and education that was. Scarey time. We were chased down the street by a mob with burning tourches, past a burning, upsode down Volkeswagon bus! Welcome back. Guess I'm not in DuBois any more Toto. LOL and so it began. After graduating I got a job in NYC for Continental Trailways Bus Company. So there I was a little girl of 19 working on 42nd St & 8th Avenue in Manhattan. I learned to ride the subways and eventually not to look people in the eye. I also made some wonderful friends that exist to this day. (When they bommed the Trade Center I was distrught. It was days till I learned my friends were ok. ) Boy did I have some experiences there. And I was really homesick and missed all my friends from home for a long time.
