Barbara's Story
Life
Married Gary Bennett in 1967. Benjie was born not too much later. Attended lots of colleges; Bucknell University, Drexel Institute of Technology, Franklin & Marshall College, Michigan State University, University of Michigan, Colgate University. Thanks to Mr. Lewis and others, studied math at most of them. I hope he doesn't read this and learn that I never used any of the math I learned after leaving Manheim Township, or even in what we learned in his calculus class, for anything but crossword puzzles and idle conversation. Missed most of the fun that kids (reportedly) have in college, but made up for it when I was single again during the age of free love and protest demonstrations. ound the U.S. and then had the great fortune to be able to work briefly in France and Norway and for 2 years in Sweden.
Now I'm spending much of my time on volunteer work, and when I'm not doing that, traveling back to Massachusetts every 2 or 3 months to see our kids and grandkids, aged 2 months and 2 years. Michael Chapman is my husband of 16 years. We met in a bike club 21 years ago and have shared our love of biking by biking self-supported across the U.S. and spending a month at a time touring a number of foreign countries on our own. Last year it was Italy, and this year we're going back to France for a second time because we want to visit the exchange student who lived with us last year and try out the wine in the parts of the country we haven't visited yet.
I love gardening, reading, hiking, cooking and hanging out with friends. Life has been really good to me, at least so far. I can't wait to find out what's next. I hope to see a big turnout at the next reunion .... shouldn't we be having one next year .... can you believe it will be our 40th!!!
