Barbi's Story
Hmmmmm... Where to start?! Last time I saw any of you was at our 10 year reunion... That seems ages ago. Well, I am still married to the love of my life, Steve (24 years in Sept). We have 3 sons, two of which are U.S. Marines. Kyle(22) is serving in Iraq at this time and Brendan (19) is in C school in California. Dillon (15)is a sophmore in high school, he, too, has plans to go into the Marines. My husband is working closely with the military in Afghanistan. So it is just me and Dillon at home right now. O... I guess I need to tell you about me...LOL. Well this past 3 years have been the most challenging of my life. Raising a family was very satisfying to me... watching them leave has been the hardest thing I have ever done. It is rewarding watching them do the jobs they have but I have found myself on my knees with fear of what they all might face. Being alone has not been fun, although I still have my youngest at home I do miss my VBF and that has been the MOST difficult challenge of all. When he is home we plan fun trips to other states ... just the 2 of us. That has been my job the past few weeks... getting us ready for a trip on his (our) new Harley Night Rod. My next birthday we will be taking a 10 day trip. This is NOTHING like the trip we took to Dubai last year...but I believe (as always) it will be a memory-making adventure. Other than watching time go by, I spend my time working part-time as a floral designer in our local flower shop... I love that work... but it can really get to me at times... that is why its PART-TIME. Other than that I am involved with my lo...Expand for more
cal church helping with the youth. Every summer we take a group of youth from our community and do mission work with a group called World Changers... if I could work with them full time I would... I really enjoy that work and meeting new faces. That has been a great ministry that me and my youngest two boys have learned to love together. I dont have much more to share at this time... I know I have just barely scratched the surface of who I am and what I have done... but I could go on forever... that is something that definately hasnt changed... I still talk A LOT. I do want to say one last thing before I am through... When I was in HS I never would have believed it if someone would have told me where I would be today... The road has not always been easy, I have lost 2 close friends to cancer, One of which used to tell me, "Barbi, life is a journey, we all have our own path." I think about her often and wonder if I would leave the same type of testimony she did with me. One of my biggest desires is to see my sons lead their lives with a faith beyond what I could ever imagine and I see that coming to pass... WOW... how awesome is that. I look forward to catching up with many of you... I would love to hear from those mighty LADY TEXANS... I have fun memories of those days playing ball. All three of my sons play b-ball... but my middle son is 6ft 3in tall... YES ... he loves basketball as much as I do and played a lot like me his senior year... Well, I said I was going to leave you with one more thing... and here I am rattling on again...LOL... Take care and God Bless you... BARBI
