Barry's Story
Life
Married to Susan Robbins (Class of 1978) on October 13, 1979. We have two daughters - Michele born Sept. 28, 1981 (Married to Jason Bonetto) - Heather born Feb 11, 1984.
In 1995 (and at age 36 and 3/4) I entered college for the first time. I earned my degree from Midlands Technical College in Information Technology (Telecommunications Systems Management) with a GPA of 4.0 (I wish I had done that in High School).
While I was attending Midlands Tech I began umpiring slow-pitch softball to help pay the bills. In January 2005 I was elected a member of the SC USSSA (United States Specialty Sports Associati...Expand for more
on) Hall of Fame as an Umpire. During a ceremony in January 2006 I was inducted.
I am currently employed as the Telecommunications and Help Desk Supervisor for the SC Vocational Rehabilitation Department. I am responsible for all of the agency's telephones and lines for more than 1800 employees and fax machines. There are also 200 + Cell Phones and Pagers under my pervue as well. I am responsible for all of our data lines and routers to our remote locations throughout the state. As Help Desk Supervisor I oversee the handling of all requests to our Help Desk with regards to any software or hardware issues.
