Barry's Story
Born in PA, I first moved to Warm Springs, GA in 1959 because my father had polio in 1954 and felt he needed the warmer climate. We moved to Raleigh Rd, Manchester in 1961 where I started the 6th grade in Ms Outz’s Homeroom.
I immediately became the very closest of friends with Steve Bulloch who lived on a farm 1 mile further out Raleigh Rd. For the next 5 years we were inseparable and spent most of our out-of-school time together and mostly on the farm. The freedom and adventure were all a boy could ever ask for. I bought my own Arabian filly in 1964 which only added to my euphoria.
My Junior year my parents decided to move back to PA, I was NOT happy and swore I would be back. I sold my horse so I could buy a Honda 150 and rode back to the farm the following summer (1967) at 17 yrs old. I returned to PA briefly to start my Senior year but 2 months later I was back in Manchester High.

iversity in Thomasville, GA and worked as a police officer for 4 1/2 yrs on the Thomasville PD. Brenda and I had 2 boys in addition to our 2 girls she had from a previous marriage.
I eventually ended up working with the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BoP) in Atlanta. And was transferred to my home area of central PA in 1981. I retired from the BoP as the Computer Services Manager and Network Administrator in 2003. I continued to work my part-time job as adjunct faculty member at Penn College of Technology. I totally retired about 2008 at 58 yrs old.
Since retirement we try to spend at least a few months a year at our house in the woods outside of Milledgeville, GA. We have 2 children and other relatives in GA and will always feel it is home.
Starting in the 80’s I became a licensed falconer training and hunting with birds of prey. I have trained: Red Tailed Hawks, Peregrine Falcons, Prairie Falcons, Merlin’s, Cooper Hawks, and more. I love the sport but going back and forth from PA to GA prevents me from actively practicing falconry.
