Barry's Story
Life
After graduation, I went to school at a rather conservative college in Birmingham. That first year I spent partying (or at least what passes for partying at a straight-laced baptist college) and lost my scholarship. I decided to move to Mobile. There I worked, quite miserably, in the marketing department of Terminix Pest Control. I then got a job in a BellSouth warehouse and decided to go back to college. I went to the University of South Alabama and majored in film/video production. After college I worked around Alabama in a freelance capacity on many commercials, corporate videos, and movies. I then moved to North Carolina and worked on a couple of movies. After That I wound up in Taos New Mexico where I worked with a company shooting documentaries for PBS. The PBS gig ended up moving me to Boston and New York for a while. Later I moved to San Diego where I worked for a small reco...Expand for more
rd label as their west coast road manager. I covered the U.S. west of Denver. The only bands you might have heard of are Karl Denson's Tiny Universe and P-funk. I then moved to New Orleans and worked as a Locations manager on Movies for about five years. I worked on dozens of movies from low-budget, to TV movie-of-the-weeks, to big-budget blockbusters. Some of the films that I've worked on that you might have heard of are: Monster's Ball, Big Fish, Skeleton Key, Glory Road, The Dukes of Hazard, Big Momma's House 2, etc. Anyway, I lost everything to Katrina. After spending a few months working on Spike Lee's "When the Levee's Broke" I decided to move to Atlanta. I currently work at a production company/rental house. We provide cameras and grip/electric equipment to movies and videos. We also have 3 sound stages. I also do freelance grip and camera work on local videos and concert events.
