Cruising! What more is there? I enjoy Celebrity Cruises the best, however, the latest exciting vacation was at Christmas / New Years 2008 in the Canary Islands. Spent a week on the island of Lanzarote, rented electric bikes along the boardwalk and checked out the capital city, Teguise, on a Sunday afternoon where "Open Market" around the Old Church is a shopping and dining mecca.
The Canaries are generally the European equivalent of the Caribbean except it helps to know a little Spanish or German to get the most of it. We were told at the hotel that they have not had American guests stay there for 5 years, mostly dues to no direct flights from the U.S. Check it out on the Ne...Expand for more
t, rates are reasonable in that season even though you convert U.S. dollars to Euros first, not withstanding the exchange rate, four star accomodations including all meals were compatible with Caribbean Crusies! The typical tourist is either German or British and they are governed by Spain. One of the most beautiful places I'd have to say... except for the beds in all of the hotels are quite firm (It must be a Euro thing) definitely not the Phoenician in Paradise Valley AZ or Sheraton Hotels throughout the U.S. if you know what I mean.
Looking forward to our 30th High School reunion because I missed out on both the 10th and 20th due to Cruises already booked for those times.
