Roger's Story
Life
I joined the Army in the fall of 1977 and retired 20 years and 27 days later on November 30, 1997.
I have a son who gradutated from the University of Central Florida and he majored in Accounting. I also have a daughter who is attending Tallahasse Community College.
Started my own lawn and landscape company in 1998, shortly after retiring from the Army. I work full time for the State of Florida in computer desktop support.
If you are ever driving through Tallahassee, FL stop by, I live very close to I-10. Give me a call, I am in the book and the door is always open.
Please feel free to contact me anytime at rogerbeck at comcast dot net or beckrv at ahca dot myflorida dot com and hope to see you at the reunions!
School
Prior to attending Spring Woods High School we moved so much and I went to so many schools that they are too numerous to name. I did attend Spring Woods from 1973-1977.
Took numerous night classes while in the Army and over 20 years was able to get two AA degrees from two different schools. One was a Associate in Arts...Expand for more
from the University of Alaska and the other was a Associate in Business Administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
Workplace
After retiring from the Army I started my own lawn and landscape business in 1998, Sugarmill Lawn & Landscape, Inc., and it is still going strong today.
I also work full time for the State of Florida as a Computer Systems Analyst solving software and hardware problems for users.
Military
Enlisted Oct 1977; Retired Nov 1997
Spent 3 1/2 years in the 1st Ranger Battalion, 75th Infantry Regiment, the best damn unit in the world, and 3 years as a Instructor at the Florida Ranger Camp (when it was fun).
Moved to Alaska in 1985 and started out as a squad leader in Charlie Airborne; was in charge of the Pre-Ranger program for several years; platoon sergeant of a scout platoon.
Taught ROTC at two universities: Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University May 89 to Oct 93 and Florida State University Nov 95 to Nov 97.
Was a First Sergeant with the 101st at Fort Campbell, KY for two years.
Now I'm retired and loving it.
