Becky's Story

Hello Fellow Trojans! I wouldn't trade a moment of any of the time of growing up in Pine Hills and going to school at Evans. It was a blast and my memories of being a "Trojan" are fond ones. Remember the days when we ate at "Burger Chef"? Things have changed drastically in Pine Hills but the happy memories still live on. I deeply relished the hundreds of days spent going to New Smyrna and Cocoa on "early leave" days (called skipping!)! I learned what I needed but the Atlantic was calling on me too. I received my Evans Diploma with all of you on the hot and humid football field of E-High. I think it might have been sprinkling rain, but a brain cloud comes to my mind on the events of that special day in June of 1978 :). We didn't need to have a formal building with a/c or a singer to send us off. No! We were and are the Mighty Trojans!!!!!! LOL! Come on, a singer would have been FANTASTIC! Winter Park had one! But who cares when we still beat all of their arses in every sport and also...........many things of living life as we did with no pretenses from our side. We didn't have to pretend to be something we weren't. That is the cool part. We grew up in the best part of Orlando at that time period and left not being a stuck-up group thinking we were better than others. That is the truth as I see it. I attended the University of Florida and UCF and loved my educational experiences at both places. I majored in Spanish and French and tried to conquer German too........but I had massive brain malfunctions with 3 foreign languages at one time, so I concentrated on Spanish and had a bit of French! Si and Oui! I am a visual, auditory and hands - on kind of learner, so to have the mascots of a Trojan, a Gator, and a Knight in my resume of life is nothing sh...Expand for more
ort of just laughter! Please put these visual stimuli all together and nothing but pure laughter comes out! I had a fantastic college experience because I was an international studies student and attended a university in Spain for three semesters. Southern Europe still fascinates me and I love Italy and all of the exquisite art. The pizza there is nothing like Domino's or Pizza Hut and the owners of these Pizzarias in Italy argue with each other as the special pizza is baked in fire - brimmed ovens! I did see them kiss and make-up with each other though!!! Also, I promise you that the "Leaning Tower of Pisa" doesn't lean after a glass of wine or two! No joke! LOL! Try it and let me know if you see the same architectural design as I experienced! :) After graduating from college, Orange County Schools called me and asked me to become a Spanish teacher. They had me on a print - out list of people who majored in Spanish and French. Sneaky Devils they are to have me on any list! :) I didn't major in education and was not expecting to go into this field, but I worked as a Curriculum Resource Specialist for Spanish and ESOL (English as a Second Language) for many years after I became a teacher. Now I am working as a consultant creating, designing, and implementing workforce education classes in Spanish for companies and corporations. I've also spent a great deal of time traveling and lived in the UK a year(England and Wales ), visited Brazil for a few months, and studied a rain forest in Costa Rica. I enjoy traveling in and out of the States and would like to see more states.........go back to the Grand Canyon and take a mule ride to the bottom. Why not??!!!! That's it for this chapter Fellow Trojans. Be happy! Hasta La Vista! Au Revoir! :) Becky
