Becky's Story
Boy am I getting old. Its been a busy life. Moved to Tarkington my Jr year and Graduated there with some really great people. Missed Splendora and all my friends but I survived. Dated a guy from Houston for a year then got married in Oct of 84. Moved to Humble.
Then Had my first son Oct 85. Moved to Tarkington area again. Then in 87 Moved to Coldspring area and had my second son Schawn. My husband and I opened up a paint and bodyshop in Coldspring and we moved to Pointblank Texas which was just right up the road.
Lots has happened since then, college at night, second jobs to make it work, and keeping up with the kids. I thought I would never get them grown...but ofcourse, they did grow up and had wonderful kids of their own. Schawn works at the bodyshop, he was blessed with the talent of painting. Don't know if he got it from his dad or if he just grew into it from being around it for so long, but he's a natural. Schevie is a Crane Rigger and builds plants all over the U.S. He is also married and has a beautiful baby boy but I don't get to see him as often as I want. It makes for a good road trip though, when I miss him too much, I just hop in the convertible and go where ever he is. He promises that when Gavin gets older, he will settle down close to home. I'm counting the days. Brian and I divorced after the kids were grown, about 2 years ago, middle age crazy I guess, but we get along now better than we ever have. He's a better friend than he ever was a husband. Either way, we are happy, and we still work together everyday. I suppose you could call our relationship complicated
but all I know is I am happier now these last two years then the twenty five before it. I travel when and where I want, alone, with friends or with Brian, we love to gamble together. I hit the casino's on a regular basis. Love to take mom and dad too. I live on Lake Livingston, I love to garden and hang out by my pool. My pets are one very spoiled mini rat terrier, 2 beautiful greenwing macaws and a rotten cockatoo who thinks shes one of the kids. I donated 2 very sweet blue and gold macaws to the Lufkin Zoo because they fought with my cockatoo constantly and I couldn't bear to sell them, I wanted to be able to visit them and know they would be taken care of forever. ery Friday, I pick up my grandson Aiden and he gets to spend the night with his MiMi. We always find super stuff to do. He is so awsome. I don't usually get to see many people from school but there is a reunion/float trip at New Bruansfels coming up on the 20th of this month for Tarkington Class of 83, I am excited to see them again, we have had several reunions through the years and its always a hoot. I wish my classmates from Splendora would have a get together again. I miss you guys too. I do still see my friend Patty Whelahan (Butler) from time to time in fact she called me yesterday and wants to take a trip to Cancun in a couple of weeks, she said she has had enough of everyday life she is ready for some r&r. She won't let me tell her no so I'm sure we will be Mexico bound as soon as my passport comes in. PS: For those of you who are old school and remember my brother Bobby, he is doing great and lives a few houses down from me. His kids are angels, nothing like thier father, his oldest son Justin lives in Houston, his daughter Sara is going to Sam Houston, just finished this semester with honors(deans list) and his youngest Bo graduated a year early from high school, just moved to Houston, works like a maniac. He also rides motorcycles with his old man on some weekends. Bobby still races and is married to a wonderful woman who we all love as a sister. Speaking of sisters, Renee (Pam) is also doing great, she lives in Tarkington next door to mom and dad. She is married to Kenny a man who spoils her rotten. She retired from Avis years ago, went back to school to be a nurse and obtained her license a few years back, that's what she does for a living now. Her only son Joe recently married and lives in Conroe area, he has a sweet step daughter. Renee's daughter Lyndsey lives next door to Renee' and she has a beautiful daughter named Shelbie. All is good and they all stay pretty busy but we are all still close. Family is what its all about.
