Becky's Story
It's good to be reminded of all of you. My story: I retired after 29 years of Nursing. Mostly in the OR. I loved surgery. About a year and half after I retired ( 59 years old) I had 2 strokes at the same time. One affected me on one side of my body and the other in the brain stem affected the other. I couldn't do anything. Couldn't talk, walk, sit up, or even eat. Somebody in the hospital told me that I would die. These days I am very stubborn. I thought that nobody was going to tell me what I could or not...Expand for more
do. To hell with them. I had to learn everything all over. I have always been a good speller, but now I could not spell my name, let alone write it. I was home bound for 6 years. It has been a hard battle but now I am able to do so much. I can even drive around town. I am so thankful, I had so many people praying for me. I could feel it.
I have heard that when some of your brain has been fried, other parts take over. I have started to paint, quilt, and make jewelry. It gives me something to do that I love
