Becky's Story
Some of you probably don't remember me as I didn't graduate at Eastern Wayne. My dad remarried in 1975 and we moved to the little town of Warsaw, North Carolina. I was fortunate to be welcomed by some great people who took me in as if I had always been at James Kenan High School. Well, after graduation, I worked at Clark's Drug Store for about a year, long enough to save enough money to buy my own car. I then had an opportunity to work at Warsaw Drug (Rexall). I met my future husband, Gary while working there. He was a patrolman on the Warsaw Police Department. We started dating in September '78 and were married in April of '79. In December of '83, our first child, Thomas was born. Our daughter, Betsy was born in January of '87. Our family was complete! s so I could raise my children at home as well. I look back and wonder how in the world I did it! Those were busy, busy years! But, good memories. When my daughter was in 3rd grade, I had an opportunity to become a substitute teacher in our district....guess where I worked on my first day???? JAMES KENAN! I was so shocked, high school had changed so much. I continued subbing for about 2 years and then was offered a job at Warsaw Elementary School as a teacher assistant, I accepted and have been there ever since! I love my job, most days! Ha! My plans are to obtain my bachelors degree in elementary education. Both my kids are graduates of James Kenan and were active in the marching band...as were Gary and I. We loved it! A part of me is still an Eastern Wayne Warrior, but I will always be a James Kenan Tiger!!!!!
