Becky's Story
Life
I started out my college carrer at UGA, but after my freshman year my family moved out here to Kansas, so I finished out my bachelors at University of Kansas, where I was an RA in the dorms, sang in lots of shows, was a KU basketball fanatic (still am!!), and had WAY too much fun!! After finishing my bachelors in music ed I decided to spend some time singing with a band that travelled - it was very fun but only lasted a short while. I eventually returned to KU for a masters in elementary ed. I did my student teaching on an air force base just north of London, (where I again had WAY too much fun!) then ended up spending the summer there with friends I had made on the base. rk at a church while I looked for a teaching job. That work at the church has managed to develope into a full time position that I love, so I was very lucky to "fall into" a wonderful and fullfilling career. So now my life is filled with lots of music, really wonderful friends, and plenty of travel at every opportunity!
My parents are both doing very well (healthier than most people I know our age!) and live only about 20 minutes from me. My brother Rob, his wife and 2 sons live in a town about 45 minutes away from me. My sister Susan, also a Berkmar grad, is a geologist for Shell Oil and lives with her husband and daughter in New Orleans (which has become my "home away from home." I visit often!). Family is still very important to me and I love being "Auntie Becky"!
