Becky's Story
2008 was a pivotal and difficult year for me. John passed away after a brave 3+ year battle with colon cancer. After 46 years of marriage I find myself living alone for the first time in my life. It is quite an adjustment. But I have been busy with finding a smaller home, getting rid of lots of unnecessary stuff, renovating with colors and styles I like, and settling in with Daisy, our Bichon and Bird, a parakeet. There remain a few things to do with the house but I feel very "at home" here. My daughter, Elizabeth and her three girls, Caroline, Haley and Georgia live here in Temple so I see them often. My son Travis wed (2009) (first time and at 43 yrs.) a lovely woman, Stephanie with three more girls, Grace, Allison and Sydney and lives in Highland Village near Dallas. n San Diego so now I am blessed with 7 granddaughters.
There are several old and dear friends who live in the general area whom I enjoy seeing as well as "newer" friends. Of course, most of those have been friends for 30+ years so newer is a relative term. I am determined to work on my painting and jewelry design as well as pottery and now my new passion, clay portrait sculpture, which I have had on the back burner for awhile. I still enjoy reading, going to the movies, dining with friends and traveling when possible. Spring will also bring lots of yard work.
I am forever amazed when I look in the mirror and see this woman that looks like my mother. I don't know who she is nor how she got this old but she has a friendly smile and seems pretty nice. If you are in the neighborhood, drop by and I will reacquaint you with her! updated 1/2010
