Belinda's Story
Wow, how fast this year has flown by. When I reflect back to evaluate this year,it has been a good one. I am so blessed to have a great family and friends. And in the end that is simply what brings us joy. Wishing everyone to reflect on the good in your life. To quote a wise turtle,In this great sea of life treat everyone as an oyster,you just don't know when you will find a pearl....
The first of August we had a blast. Kim came out for a week and we all got together for a girls' weekend to celebrate her birthday
Went home for the 4th to see family and friends. We had a great time. The whole family was able to get back this year. My youngest son just graduated college and will leaving for school July 20th. So we will be official empty nesters. He is going to major in biology,with the intent of becoming a vet. He has will be applying his culinary scholarships towards animal nutrition.
While back home got to see alot of friends. I love running into people you haven't seen in years,but it doesn't take long to reconnect.
Spent some great quality time with my brother and his family. It's unique that as you get older you now can tolerate your siblings and even like them.(ha!ha!)
Life
Been living in Southern CA for 14 years now. Married, three kids. Oldest (daughter) is 25 and is a nurse at the same hospital I work at. Middle daughter is a sophmore in college and my youngest(son) is 17 and a senior in highschool. We have three dogs and a bunny.
School
Really did enjoy highschool. It was fun to grow up in that area. People are amazed out here in CA how small my school was and that we knew everyone or at least knew who they were. The girls and guys I hung out with in school, we all still keep in touch and see each other. My biggest crush, (Kent New)we dated for three years. I liked all my...Expand for more
teachers. Well, maybe two of them I didn't. But Mr. Smokewood was my favorite, I liked Chemistry and Biology. No one inspired me to go on to college, I just new I wanted to go. Initially wanted to be a doctor, but went the radiology route. School was just fun.I remember laughing and having fun with my friends. (We still do). We would pull practical jokes on my brother and his buddies(taping their lockers and all their books)or put the xmas tree,every year,in the boys bathroom or waterballoon,shaving creme fights on the last day of school in the parking lot . Graduation was the happiest memory for me. Would I do highschool again, yeah it was fun, but I also was ready to get out and get on with my life.
College
Went to college at Labette. I commuted for two years, so there was no unique roomates except, well let me take that back, there was one (my ex husband). Went to school full time, worked full time and raised a daughter, so I just wanted to graduate and start working in my profession. Was alot of hard work, but no regrets.
Workplace
Love my job. Sort of a work-a-holic. I am the supervisor of a top 100 hundred hospital breast center. We have three digital mammography machines,two Siemens ultrasound machines,one sterotactic biopsy machine, bone densitometry, Breast MRI and biopsy and Breast Specific Gamma Imaging. We are the only facilty in the state of California to have BSGI. I have been setting up this program and responsible for accumulating case studies. I have done lecturing and teaching for technologist and doctors through out the state of California.
Military
No military experience except supported a brother who retired military and did two tours /duties to Iraq. (1990,2004) Nephew is getting ready to leave on 8/24 for basic training. Support him, but want the war to end,Let them come home.
