Ben's Story
After High School, I attended the US Naval Academy in 1970, played football and rugby, and graduated in 1974 with a degree in Physical Science and Engineering. I served 5 years active duty as a Naval Officer on ships in San Diego and Hawaii, and then went to work as a Construction Engineer and Construction Manager building large projects around the US and world. I met and married my sweet wife Novia in Hawaii in 1981, and we have one son and 2 girls. My son also graduated from Annapolis, and is serving in the Navy as a Navy SEAL Officer. He is married to a former Naval Academy grad Sarah as well. My middle daughter Annie graduated from College and married an Air Force Academy graduate Nick, and they live here in Los Angeles near Novia and I. and they have 3 boys and she is an LA Police Officer. they have 3 sons. and she and her husband have moved to Los Angeles and her husband is serving as my Associate Pastor at the church I lead. I helped plant a church in Los Angeles with my best friend back in 1988, and after retiring from my construction career in 2011, I was called to pastor our 2nd church that is here in Lomita, CA, near Torrance, CA. It's called Baycities Community Church Lomita. I finally completed a Masters in Pastoral Ministries in 2014 from Trinity Seminary. My wife Novia, who is a graduate of the University of Hawaii, and I have 7 grand kids so far, 6 boys and one girl. I love riding motorcycles, fishing, surfing, playing golf and bike riding. Novia and I are having a blast working and serving and enjoy life here in Southern California. We bought a house in the desert and I’m training my son in law to take over my ministry in the next couple of years.
