Benita Brown:  

How You Doin' Class of 1980!! I'm Benita (Wheeler) Brown. Remember me? I was voted "Most Wittiest" of my senior class (1980), I was also Charlestown High's first African American Prom Queen (1980), I sang with the band at our prom!! I was on the varsity track team (Winter/Spring); 1976-1977, 1977-1978, and Spring 1979. I was a member of the Yearbook Committee, and Student Council. Over the years, I participated in the school's Gong/Talent shows as a singing contestant (never got booed/gonged)LOL! I'm an educator, with double master of Education degrees, Education/Theatre Studies from Lesley University, and a Master of Education/School Counseling from Cambridge College. I've taught in both the Boston Public and Brookline Public Schools systems. I am a breast cancer SURVIVOR 20 YEARS AND COUNTING, THANK GOD!! I have continued my singing career, having sung in gospel choirs/choruses/groups for the past 40 years, recorded CDs both live and studio recordings.
