Benjamin's Story
Life
Have been a military brat all my life. Orginally born in the Philippines and moved to Hawaii in 1959. Moved to California in 1960 in cities of San Francisco, Fairfield, and Suisan City. In 1964, traveled by car to Ft Niagra, NY. Just lived there for 3 months and then moved back to Sunnyvale, CA. From there we moved to Paso Robles from 1964-1966. Then my dad got stationed to Monterey, CA and we thought we'd get stationed to Indonesia, but instead we got stationed to Taipei, Taiwan. We stayed there for 3 Years and moved back to Salinas, CA when my dad went to Vietnam. In 1971, my dad came back from Nam and got orders to go to Okinawa, Japan. That's where I graduated and entered the US Army. I met my wife in my first tour in Hawaii and we got married in 1975 at Tripler Medical Center. We had our first child in (1978) San Francisco her name is Leilani. Had a tour in Germany from 1978-1981. Came back to San Antonio, TX (Ft Sam Houston) from 1981-1982. Reenlisted into the Army and got another assignment to Hawaii. We had our second child Ben Jr in 1984. We left Hawaii in 1985 and headed for the Pentagon. We stayed in Virginia from 1985-1988 and when I finished that tour, we got assignment to Germany again. We stayed in Germany from 1988-1991 and we had our last child, Malia in 1990.
When we left Germany, I got another assignment into Washinton, DC and retired there! Th...Expand for more
at is where I am now. My wife Lisa works for the school cafeteria just to get out of the house, Leilani is a teacher's aide and Benj Jr and Malia are attending George Mason Univeristy majoring in music. I am a government contractor for Harris Corp in the IT field and now working a desk job. I am an avid fisherman and love playing the guitar. I love music!
School
As you can tell from my life bio I moved around a lot and attended many schools. The important things about school were music, sports and of course dating girls.
There are only a few folks I remember while I was in school - majority of them were girls. But my best friend in Taiwan, Craig Cooper was probably one of the coolest friends I had while growing up. Some other friends were Casey Abaya and Sally Robertson (Alisal High School), Sharon Baars (Taipei American School), and Charon Callaway, Jeanne Gutterman and Jenny Hillhouse. (Kubasaki High School).
Military
Retired from the military on 4 January 1993. Served my country for 21 years 6months and 3 days. Some of my tours were: Ft Monroe, Virginia (1972-1974); Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu, Hawaii (1974-1976); Presidio of San Francisco, CA(1976-1978); Nellingen, Germany(1978-1981); Ft Sam Houston, TX(1981-1982); Schofield Barracks, Hawaii(1982-1985); The Pentagon (1985-1988); Zweibruecken, Germany (1988-1991); Washington Navy Yard, Washington DC (1991-1993).
