Bernadette's Story
To date, life has been an interesting and modestly challenging journey and I look forward to the rest of the trip with avid interest.
I started out as a child...military brat...which was my first fortunate circumstance because we traveled to and lived in various places. My life and education were enriched immeasurably by those opportunities to which I would not have had access if my parents had remained in South Buffalo, NY. So, we lived in Las Vegas (when it was just a downtown strip), Missouri, Massachusetts, Western NY, and Madrid, Spain for over 10 years; 5 out of my 9 younger siblings were born there!
My years at Madrid High School, Torrejon AFB, Spain and growing up in the 1960's are really the touchstones for who I am today. Through the MHS/THS Organization (mhsths.org), I have reconnected with other 'brat' friends and it has been wonderfully affirming. We have all-class reunions every 3 years and mini-reunions wherever a few of us can gather in between. Wherever we gather is home.

Traveling continues to be a primary interest and I have managed to see a lot of the US, return to Spain 2x's and have an all too short visit to Italy in 2001 to celebrate my son's graduation. I cannot wait to return to explore the nooks and crannies now that I have seen the highlights.
In the past year, I moved from WNY to Wisconsin to marry a former Madrid neighbor, fellow brat and retired Air Force air refueler (boom operator). My wonderful son is grown, independent and owns his own business in FL. and I was ready for a new adventure. My husband, Mike, is generous, loving and kind and I am so grateful that I found those qualities in both the 17 year old and the grown man...though he denies being an adult. I am fortunate to be related to two out of three of my favorite men.
I would love to hear from you. I know we are all still occupied with busy lives so it will be nice to touch base and stay in touch over time. If you are in my neighborhood, give a shout-out.
