Bernard's Story

After high school I wasted about two years trying to decide what I wanted to do. I lived in Kentucky for a year and then a year in Florida before returning home to Indiana. I have an uncle that got me a job in a foundry in Kendallville, IN and worked there for 3 years. I then joined the Indiana State Police in 1980 as a Motor Carrier Inspector and have been there since.I get loaned out occasionaly to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (National Training Center) to train motor carrier enforcement officers throughout the U.S. I enjoy the travel quite a bit. I'm happily married (this time) with a total of four children and one grandchild. I'm very proud of my kids, one daughter is a RN, one is finishing her degree in Forestry, my daughter still at home is in the National Honor Society and looking to go to Purdue or I.U to study genetics and my son is doing very well in 7th grade. My wife and I built our home three years ago and are still working on it. Apparently, there is always something to do. If it's not...Expand for more
landscaping, it's finishing the basement or adding a deck. I find that I enjoy working around the house, but at my pace (which is slower than my wife's expectations). Right now my greatest enjoyment is my 2 yr old grandson. He makes me smile and laugh so much. My wife really enjoys putting on the family gatherings, so Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter are very busy times at our home. She is big on decorating for the paticular holiday. It's always hectic, but I try to take lots of pictures. May 2011 Still here in Brazil and working for the State Police. My job has changed, I now go to companies that use trucks in their operation and explain what regulations they are subject to and help them understand them. I have another grandson, he is 7 months, the first one is now 4 and playing t-ball. My youngest daughter just finished her 2nd year at IUPUI. Her degree is in pharmacy. My youngest is finishing his freshman year at Northview HS. My wife and I have been together for 21 years now. It has gone by so fast!
