Bert's Story

Life I'll try to keep this as chronological as possible. Tammy Nixon and I had a daughter Stacy LaVohn 9/22/80. I Got married in 1981 to Marla Lewis from Yuma We had 2 girls Tyanna Marie 6/18/81 & Mallory Elyse 9/3/83. Had a Drywall company in Sun City for 3 years then did a stint in So. Cal YUK!!! Returned to Yuma in '88. Then I made many changes in my life from '90 on..ie., quit drinking, quit partying, straightened up my attitude, Divorced (one of my best friends) in '95, returned to school full time and Graduated in '96. I'm now enjoying a very rewarding life as an Occupational Therapist in a nursing home in Lake Havasu City Az. I've also added a couple of new additions to my life. Tifany (my lovely partner) and I have 2 children Samantha Camille 4/9/97 & finally a boy Sterling Alexander 9/29/99. Oh and lets don't forget the 2 grandsons (Tyanna's [Hacienth 7/4/98 & Jesiah 5/26/00])and 1 granddaughter Daelyn Paige Tirey born 9/2/00(Stacy's.) Remember my sister Linda??? She is living in Yuma works as a Bailiff in the justice court Married since God made dirt. 2 kids Jayson, Jaime. would love to hear from any of the old Antelope crew!!!! Quick Update 11-4-09. Since my last entry was about 9 years ago I guess I should update some info. Tifany and I got married in April 2000. We are living in Lake Havasu City and have been since September of 09. Tifany continues to work as a therapist. I do also sometimes, spent some time in the school system and also in the nursing home as a therapist. I have dabbled in a few different types of jobs mostly related to my interest in firearms. I have worked at a gun shop. I have worked in a machine shop manufacturing gun parts for Bushmaster, DPMS, Remington to name a few. I have bought and sold the 10/22 Gatling gun company. I spent a few years playing with fireworks, manufacturing, selling and displaying shows. I am presently manufacturing a line of exploding targets that explode like dynamite when shot with a bullet. Tons of fun! Have been doing that for about 6 years as a side job. My family has definitely increased in size. Stacy (My oldest old kid) now has 1 girl and 3 boys. Tyanna (my middle old kid)now has 2 boys, one girl and one on the way. Mallory (my youngest old kid)Has a son. Sami (My oldes...Expand for more
t young kid) is now in 7th grade and doing well with school. Sterling (my youngest young kid) is in 4th grade, doing well in school. He is a football addict. He plays Pop Warner, watches the NFL channel all the time and knows more players and stats than I ever though of knowing. Its his obsession. Living in Lake Havasu we have become "Boat People" as you might imagine. Both of the kids have learned to water ski and both are playing with the wake board tricks now. It is just too convenient. We can have the jet boat in the water in 17 minutes from our driveway. Of course the bigger boat takes a bit longer to tow and to launch. We reserve most of our off-roading for the winter time around here. Of course there are some very interesting mining areas and beautiful scenes along the river to explore. Here are some fill in the blanks questions from Classmates I always wanted to be a Sailor when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a bad idea. As it turns out, they were right. I love to go shooting or go fishing. If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have desire, good people, and big fun to be able to deal with the day-to-day. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Mrs Kirkland, because she was very influential in my life values... I guess I'd have to say my obsessions are crime TV i.e., CSI type shows and pets. We have quite an array of pets and always have had. Presently we have 2 aquariums, 1 is 125 gal with a large Oscar, Large goldfish, and a pair of large black finned sharks. We have a cat, dog, rabbit, guinea pig, 2 rats and 2 spoiled children. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel the garage and add on a big shop area. My dream home would be 4 bedrooms and an 8 car garage/shop. I have learned from my children and from other children that adults take life too seriously. If you look at it simply as they do and don't let all the other "Stuff" get in the way .... the answers are easier and the pleasure is greater. I have learned to enjoy every moment of every day, especially with children because they are never that size, age, innocent tomorrow. If I won $100 million, I'd give 10% of it to the church, then spend the rest on setting up my kids, grandkids and traveling the world as a tourist.
