Bert's Story

Life A work STILL in progress . . . my life that is, as well as this profile. Life . . . it's awesome! I had long ago realized that it will be what we will make of it. What I have done, all too often, however, is not taken time to reflect on my share of the responsibility of where I am at in this journey thru life. I'm learning all the time tho, especially with some of the most recent events in my life. Having said that and taking the time to think about what to enter here has, at least, made me slow down long enough to do just that . . . reflect! I don't know about this reflecting stuff however. It forces us to look at and SEE ourselves. Not a bad thing to do . . . on occasion. I don't think that we need to dwell there tho. Reflect, contemplate and then MOVE ON!! Life is too short to get STUCK. We've got too much of it to live yet. Even tho my life is not just as I had imagined that it would be at this point, all in all, I truly am blessed well beyond what I deserve. Divorced . . . again . . . jeez that sounds bad. It really is sad and not, at all, what I had hoped for. I genuinely hope the very best for Carrie and that she will find whatever it is that seems to constantly elude her in her never ending search for ultimate happiness. I, on the other hand, am totally optimistic about the mystery of life. How could I not be. I have not yet figured out why it is that I should be so blessed . . . 4 awesome children, who have further blessed me with 9 awesome grand-babies. Let's see . . . that makes 7 Grandsons and 3 Granddaughters! ! ! Enough for a baseball team! With the four oldest already able to toss the baseball around with Grandpa and the others not all that far behind, I should be able to get them all together for a little batting practice and base running in the not-to-distant future! Fortunately they are all fairly close, with 7 in the immediate area and 2 only as far away as under 100 miles. Its yet one more blessing of so many recently, having them so close. And when I arrive at my home still another blessing. To always greet me at the door is, what will be for as long as the good Lord allows, my constant companion . . . Dylan. He is a very special kitty, in a number of ways. But suffice it to say that it is good that he is with me to keep me company and entertained while at home. No dog yet. I still enjoy just about any physical activity. Always attempting to remain busy. My business fulfills that need very well most of the time, but must...Expand for more
make time for other physical interests so as to stay fit . . . mentally and spiritually as well as physically. Another of the many blessings, that of exceptional health. LUUVVV to travel, altho I don't for the moment, allow myself much time for it. I need to really, especially while single, apply myself to my business so as to be able to retire at an age that I can still play hard! I have great ambitions to see the rest of these grand UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. I have been blessed with the ability to have seen about 35 of the lower 48, having experienced most of them as the result of manning one of the BIG RIGS that operate up down our awesome highways. That was great fun!! Altho I would love to see more of the world across the seas, I could be content traveling AMERICA for a very long time. She is so huge and diverse that I'm not sure I could take it all in even with all of the time that I still have left here. There are still a few places overseas that I would like to visit as well, having made it only to England, so far! But that will come in time if it is in the big plan for my life . . . Patience Bert!! March of 2010; Addendum to previous story; A few years since, some lean times and tough lessons none which have taken away from or given me cause for regret in regards to the above . . . In the midst of hard work and hard play I, much more now than ever before, will, at every opportunity, take time to make room for . . . Walks on the beach, Candlelit dinners at Unique locations, Hot Chocolate and S'mores at the fireplace with the snow falling just outside large picture windows, Strolling thru a park kicking up the newly fallen leaves of Autumn, Horse-drawn Sleigh Rides in the lightly falling snow, Springtime horseback rides in the mountains or along a beach, a hand holding outing to the zoo, the God given ability to use the imagination to create 'Great Dates' . . . and the Blessing to be struck with Awe at God's own unbelievable creative imagination: . . . Majestic mountains; Towering, ancient giants of trees; the balance of 'Terra Firma' to the vastness of the 'Waters'; the awesome nature of the 'Canopy' of a Rain-forest; the precarious placement of our 'just right' location in the vastness of the Universe; the introduction of a miracle into this adventure here, a new Life . . . a Child; and . . . . . the Wonderment of the Intricacies and Mystery of a Woman. Life here . . . it IS awesome . . . Too short to waste . . . Embrace it . . . Live it!!
