Beryl's Story
Since 1964 I went to cosmetology school, got married and had three children. A single boy and a set of twin boys. Shortly after that I got divorced and within a year met my present husband, Jim. When we married we moved to South Florida where we both were truck drivers. During my off days I landscaped on week ends and went to real estate school nights. I got my brokers license and my husband Jim and I started our own trucking company. We had that for 10 years along with selling R.E. when we decided to move back to N.Y. and build a home on our 67 acre farm. During the blizzard of 94 we had enough and moved back to South Florida where we then were into real estate and property management. Jim was in management at Frito Lay and I was self employed as a computerized embroidery creator and instructor. When Jim retired from Frito we moved to North Florida, Jasper to be exact. That is about 10 miles from the GA border. COLD in the winter! We have ...Expand for more
a 40 acre tree farm. Here we are still both involved in real estate and property management. I am still self employed in my own corporation as well as in the real estate and property management corporation. I take care of my 92 year old mother, my husband and our dog. I lost one of my twin sons, Jim, in October of 2009 to a brain tumor. He was in management within the medical field. The other twin, Robert is a Senior Software Architect in Sarasota FL, and Brian my eldest is somewhere in upper management at TAG. ( The Answer Group) Computer stuff anyway. I have kept busy over the past 45 years and have stuck my foot into a lot of different professions. I like where I live now and for work, I love what I do. I also like to build things. They really should have let me in shop class. Jim and I built our home in Greene and we just finished building our 1800 sq foot garage. What a blast! We get around pretty good for a couple of old fogies.
