Leigh's Story

Life I've been through a lot since Andover High, and in many ways I'm a completely different person. Or at least I have spent time as a very different person! I'm single and mostly love it. I didn't always love that in High School - but some things are the same: I still love drama (my degree is a BFA in Acting), still love reading, still love singing (two albums with Revels Inc.), and still love God. Let's see...outspoken (more than I was in HS, that's for sure!), Republican, WRKO fan (at least until 2/9/07, when they take Scotto off the air and set up Tom Finneran in the morning slot), closet Runescape member (I play with my son), anti-SUV (for the most part), anti-PETA/environmental moonbats, pro-death penalty, pro Second Amendment rights, music lover, insane book addict, turns the TV on for pretty much nothing. I work for a Challenge Unlimited in the ol' hometown - a nonprofit working farm specializing in therapeutic riding (hippotherapy.) Being a mom is the best, though. I don't need to exaggerate my accomplishments or embellish my profile/"resume" here at Classmates - and you know people do!!! - because the most important thing I've ever done, and will ever do, is be Mom. Not that I've done a perfect job! But a darn good one (so far) and it's just the most amazing experience ever. And you get to have it every single day (which you don't always appreciate, especially when there is whining or self haircutting or kitchen experimenting involved...) I perform when I can, mostly in short films. Our gang and our director/producer (Playomatic Media) is awesome, and you can find most of the shorts on YouTube under the Playomatic profile. ould not do it all over again. I did not have a crush on any of you guys. Mostly. No, that does not mean I had a crush on a girl. End of story! /might like to go back to my 30s, though... College All I want to say is that I finished college a little later in life, after a lot of challenges. I graduated summa cum laude, and am very proud of that. I made a few really great friends. Workplace I've worked a few places; I seem to gravitate back toward academia - last at MIT and loved it. Job that people ask most about? Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. I recently worked for a global firm that manufactures testing equipment for electronics that you use and love - iPods, PS3, PSP, cell phones, etc. etc. etc. Now I'm at... Challenge Unlimited at Ironstone Farm. You can Google them. My office is in a working barn, complete with manure, dust, a barn cat (which means we also have mouse and bird guts from her conquests) - it's "different." Pay is low, working for kids and their families makes up for much of that. I see kids and adults that are mildly to severely disabled, and they are helped by our hippotherapy and therapeutic riding programs. We have recreational riders also, and rely on 150 volunteers every week to help us keep the farm running smoothly. But being a mom is my number one vocation. As I think I've probably said, sort of ad nauseam. As those of you with kids of your own already know, unless they have been called into the principal's office today, or you caught them on IM saying "TDTM" or "GNOC," or they just did that thing you've told them a hundred times not to do. Those of you without kids think I'm arrogant, full of self, or just plain insane.
