Elizabeth's Story
Life
My life bio.... hmm I was born in Edmonton, Alberta ,Canada on June 24,1954. So that makes me a member of those over 50 so I am going down hill now. I lived at the same house most of my life until I left for college. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and I am very grateful for that. It has given me the foundation I needed many times in my life.
I am the happy wife of a dentist/bikerider ( road bike). We will have been married 37 years this August,we have had our ups and downs but things are great now. I am the proud mom of 2 beautiful daughters and 1 cute and cuddly bichon frise dog( update Toby passed away Aug 13,2012). My oldest daughter is married and her husband completed his doctorate in June of 2012 and is an associate professor of latin American literature at Brigham Young Universityl. She has her masters degree in Creative Writing. She gave us the best thing in the world a granddaughter in Nov of 2008. She is absolutely a precious little doll!!Being a grandma is sooooo fun! Last year 2012 on my birthday they gave us a wonderful grandson too. My youngest graduated with her associates degree in general studies. She returned from a mission for our church, graduated with a degree in exercise science and ballroom dance and in massage therapy, last August she too was married. Both girls live in Utah now which gives us an excuse to visit there.
I have been heavily involved with my church callings, PTA or room mother, art docents, volunteer worker in the student store at high school and Girl Scouts.
My interests now range from talking on the computer to reading, to making crafts,to making quilts, watching old time movies or tv, listening to quieter music, and travel.
School
I started school at Mount Pleasant Elementary school in Edmonton, I remember the long walks back and forth to school on the ice ,falling and smacking my head on several occasions. I remember the PTA bake sales, the spring concerts, having the Lt Govenor of Canada come and getting the day off school, walking to Allendale to have home economics class and all that mint green cotton fabric we used to sew with ( ghastly), being totally inept at sports of any kind except swimming, going to Brownie meetings, movies at the community hall and even being stupid enough to get my tongue frozen to the green railing by the playyard. My favorite memory however, was the day the new red maple leaf flag was instituted. I felt so proud to march into the gym in my brownie uniform and sing the new song and then listen to the broadcast from Ottawa as the flag was dedicated. Another thing I remember was the thrill of the Centennial year and all that went with it.
For 9th grade I went to Avalon jr high. I dont have too many memories from there except art class amazed me as did home ec and french. One of my memories is stopping at the bakery in Lendrum shopping center and buying chocolate donuts on the way home.
In High School I attended Harry Ainlay. Lots of neat things happened here. I remember Man landing on the moon, mashacre when we did things with mashed potatos, having a crush on Bill Peterson, Gane Olson and others from other schools, I remember fabrics and dress class where I was chosen to be the commentator for the fashion show, I remember compiling the grad section of the yearbook, buying old dutch chips at the student store, being on graduation counc...Expand for more
il and searching for the best printer to make our ticket/invitations, I remember being a candy striper at the university hospital, being a grocery bagger at Woodwards and working in the candy department during the christmas season. I remember wonderful friends like Teresa , Gwen , Janie, Bev, Lorena, Shirley, Lani, Jane, Beverly, Karen G, Beth, and many many more.
After High School I attended Brigham Young University in Provo , Utah. I majored in Communicative Disorders and minored in Special Ed and elementary ed. I remember marrying off 24 roommates before I found my man, Maiser Hall, ring passing, oweing ice cream, coconut donuts with raspberry filling, BYU punch, cougar eats with their awesome lime drink, the bookstore with cinnamon bears, walking and walking, the pendulum in the Eyring science center, History 170 class, doing genealogy, climbing all those stairs up to campus, devotionals, being a classroom teacher for a therapy group, all the fun we had with our professors, church socials, letters in the mail, lower campus, preference, cooking for the guys, moon apartments, foreign students office, graduation, student teaching at Sunset, Franklin, and Joaquin schools and 2 graduations.

I also worked as a waitress at the Bighorn Inn in Banff, and for Phils restaurant. One summer I worked for the department of vital statistics and for a Canadian souvenir store in the evenings. While in college I was one of the clinic classroom teachers in speech therapy and eventually with my masters I started working fulltime in one of the local Elementary schools called Franklin in Provo, Utah. After marrying I moved to California for my husbands dental school and worked in a Speech Pathology clinic in a local county rehab hospital called Fairmont.
