Beth's Story

College After graduating from DHS in 1975, I went to St. Petersburg Jr. College for a year and a half. I transferred to USF where I entered a five year Master of Science degree program in Communication Sciences. I graduated in 1981 and began teaching deaf students in the Pinellas County public schools. After ten years of teaching in the public schools, I went out on maternity leave and never went back. lty, I teach deaf students English and Reading and also teach American Sign Language to students who are taking it as a foreign language or to students who want to become sign language interpreters. In 1997, I began an interdisciplinary doctoral degree program in second language acquisition/instructional technology at USF. I completed my Ph.D., which means Paid High Dollars, in November of 2004 and graduated in December. Finally! Some people say that USF means "you stay forever." I was beginning to think that was true.
