Beth's Story
Some people can't wait to graduate and leave their home town. I wasn't one of those people.
John and I moved to Augusta, GA in 1999. As I learned my way around the 2nd largest city in Georgia, there were definitely days I asked myself, "What the ____ am I doing in Georgia? Eventually, I realized I was nostagic for a "place in time" not a place.
The Q&A survey asks, "What do you do to make money?" Well...I don't earn a paycheck but my official, self-appointed title is domestic engineer. John however is a mechanical engineer in the world's only carpet recycling plant. The survey also asks about music, tv and movies. The truth is I don't carve out enough time for my preferences. I try to savor the snippets and songs that catch me as I go through the day. For example, a couple weeks ago (9/08) we were at a private lake/water park in SC. The owners don't let patrons bring in boom boxes. Instead they broadcast a variety of music over a PA system. As I'm singing along to "Stairway to Heaven," J.W. asks, Mom how do you know this song? I still don't think he understands the significance of prom songs.
