Beth's Story
Life
When I graduated from BHS in 1978, I got my teaching degree at SMSU at Springfield. In the meantime, I got married (soon it will be 28 years!) and gained a stepson. After teaching at Bakersfield a couple of years, I stayed at home to raise a son (who attends my old alma mater, now called MSU) and daughter, doing a lot of substitute teaching and various other school jobs. Seven years ago, I went back to work, again teaching at BHS. I have taught high school Social Studies ever since, but this year I am resigning that position to move on and do other things with my life. I live about ten miles from the school (which has changed a LOT, if you haven't been there lately), so I keep in touch with many of my former schoolmates. r high, or high school). Some of our graduates put much effort into creating an entertaining day, so if you have never been, you should plan to come! It is held in the new high school gym (BHS is really uptown these days!) and then there is entertainment downtown at the park pavilion. It really is quite fun and you may see someone you haven't seen in a long time!!!! Many of those attending have been out of school for 60 or more years, although some who are there may have only graduated a few years ago, and then all the classes in between. My entire family usually attends, including my mom and dad, my brother, and both my sisters (who are all Bakersfield graduates) along with my stepson and many nieces and nephews. Next year will be my 30th year class reunion, so if anyone is interested in having a special reunion, please contact me and we will get together.
