Beth's Story
Greetings class of 1978! I hope each of you are well and that life has blessed you all.
After graduation I attended EIU for 2 years and realized that it was not the school I needed to be at. I transferred to the International Academy of Merchandising& Design in Chicago and graduated with my B.A. in merchandising management. I became a designer sportswear buyer for Charles A. Stevens and then Ann Taylor. About this time I met my future husband, Louis who was a first year medical student in Florida. I moved to Florida and became a regional manager for The Limited Stores and opened their 15 west coast stores in Florida. After my husband graduated from medical school we returned to the Chicago area while he completed his residency training and fellowship and lived in Glenview, IL. I missed the beautiful sunny weather of Florida, so after his fellowship was complete we returned to Florida.

ently in college, another will graduate this year and one is in 10th grade and the baby is in 7th grade.
Living in Florida has afforded me the opportunity to become an avid tennis player. Five years ago, I opened my own tennis boutique in my town. It has been a labor of love and a source of great personal satisfaction.
This year has been a challening one. In August of this year I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. I underwent a bilateral frontal craniotomy at Duke University. Having a world class brain surgeon crack your head open seems to help, as I have fully recovered and I am back to living a full and active life. This was not a journey I would wish on anyone, but in many ways it was a blessing. My life has been renewed as has my spirit and I am more grateful and humbled by the power of God.
I hope whatever journey you all have been on, has brought you peace, comfort and love. Remember to love those close to you and thank God for the precious gift of life and go Vikings!!!!!
